Bunny musts/cage ideas
Bunnies make great pets and are easy to look after.
Some bunny musts:
1.They must have their hutch protected from insects. This is easily done
by using flyscreen, or mesh. This protects them from the deadly disease 'Myxomatosis'
which is carried by mosquitos, wild rabbit fleas and biting flies.
There is NO vaccination available against this disease.
Another deadly disease is Calicivirus. There IS a vaccination for this and is usually
done around 10-12 weeks of age.You then need to get it done once a year.
Even with this done you still need to flyscreen to prevent myxomatosis.
2.They must have clean fresh water available at all times, they will not
drink warm water so on hot days their bottles need to be emptied out when warm
and refilled with cold water.
3.On hot days they must be in a shady cool area, frozen bottles put into their hutch
is a great idea. They tend to lay near it and also will lick it, to keep cool.
4.Bunnies like their pellet mix and also enjoy their hay.
Mine are on Oaten Hay, Clover hay or Meadow hay [depends whats available]

These cages are great as they love running up and down
the ramp. They have an upstairs box for sleeping.
My husband used a staple gun to staple the flyscreen
to the outside of the wire.He also put the 4 legs on the cage
to have it off the ground.
My husband built this cage, its my "For Sale Cage"
Whatever bunnies i have for sale go into this cage.It has 2 separate
sides. On the left is the small side,as you can see the little arched
door is that sides sleeping area.On the right is the big side which has the
sleeping box's door around the other side.It has 2 windows on each
side with flyscreen on them. The windows can be taken off by those little silver
knobs you can see in the pic.Underneath where you can see the long rectangle shape with
flyscreen attached is where i can lift up as the pooh rolls down the netting into
a gutter which i then empty out and put around the gardens.
It's best NOT to buy those tin/metal cages as they heat up too quickly and aren't very
heavy so could easily be knocked over by a dog e.t.c,wooden ones are alot better.
